- To preserve the Black Forest landscape and to enable people to experience nature and landscape at close hand.
- To improve the tourist infrastructure in the Black Forest and to create direct and active experiences for people's recreation in natural surroundings. These also include educational projects relating to nature and the environment.
The most important aims which the Nature Park has set itself in its statutes are as follows:
- • to preserve and protect the beauty, the character and the variety of the nature and landscape as well as the flora and fauna which inhabit it
- • to improve the area's suitability for recreation and tourism
- • to promote traditional agriculture with its special regional features and to draw attention to its importance for conservation of the landscape and the natural scenery and therefore also for recreation and tourism
- • to ensure that due care is given to the open landscape
- • to preserve the functions of the forest
- • to promote the regional identity
