Motive: Kettererhaus in Biberach
“Ketterer” House in Biberach
The “Ketterer” house is named after its last private owner, the Ketterer smithy, and is one of the oldest and finest buildings in the Kinzig Valley. The half-timbered building partly goes back to the 17th century. The visitor is taken through fully furnished rooms depicting various handicrafts, such as turner, painter, blacksmith, carpenter, cooper, saddler and cobbler. One room is dedicated to the women who made cigars. Life in a Black Forest village is made visible to the visitor when going through the kitchen, the maid’s room and the simple living-room. Reference is also made to customs and traditional costumes as well as to the rural cooperative system. The importance of Biberach as a place to moor rafts is also referred to.
