Black Forest Museum of Traditional Costumes in Haslach

This museum gives you an idea of the history behind the traditional Black Forest costumes. In the Black Forest there were a number of different clothes worn on the farms and in the towns and that is the reason why the Black Forest is the most famous part of Germany for these.

In this museum there are over 100 exhibits in large showcases. These are all shown as life like as possible and are set off by using various items and objects used in day-to-day life on a farm, not only on working days but also on Sundays. The area around the museum is also worth looking at. The building is the only monastery (Capuchin monks) in the whole of southern Germany dating back to the time of the Thirty Years’ War that is still in a perfect condition. The abbey, Loreto chapel, nave and monks chancel, refectory, sick-rooms and a cell show exactly how a place like this was built and worked in its day.
