Castles near Schramberg
Schramberg lies in 5 different valleys and is overlooked by 3 castle ruins. The largest of these is the “Hohenschramberg” situated on the “Schlossberg”. It was built in the 15th century by Hans von Rechberg and 232 years later, in 1689, was burned down to the ground. The castle remains are still adequate enough to give you an unbelievable view of the town. Stop off for a break in the “Burgstueble”. At the end of the cavernous “Berneck” valley to the south of Schramberg there are the remains of the two “Falkenstein” castles, which you can only get to on foot via overgrown footpaths.
Advice on how to get to the castle ruins on foot can be given at the Tourist Information Centre.
