Motive: Schüttesägemuseum in Schiltach
“Schuettesaege” Museum in Schiltach
In two buildings between the Kinzig and the canal you can learn everything to do with wood, starting with the trees, moving on to the timber transportation by river and the timber-trade and ending up with the wood being used for building and making furniture. An old saw which is still water-driven and the room where files were made as well as the power behind the mechanics are all well worth viewing. The section reserved for the timber transportation by river includes a model of a raft used on the River Kinzig. Since 1997 an exhibition on carpentry is also on show here.
