Going back in time in Schramberg
Looking for clues to the history of Schramberg. The tour of the town centre, which is quite easy to do on your own, takes you to 27 historic buildings. Your journey begins at the palace which now houses the town museum. The clock, which is a work of art and over 4 metres high, was made by A. Junghans for the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900 and is one of the main attractions along with the unique collection of factory-made clocks.
The “Beamtenbau” and “Junghanskolonie”, where the employees and factory workers used to live, the “Theme Park” with its country house and the “Diesel Museum” with its large M.A.N. diesel engine from 1911 in the former clock factory H.A.U. show you different sides of architecture and engineering in the clock town.
