Mining and Mineral Museum in Oberwolfach
Exhibition of Black Forest minerals. The main emphasis is put on minerals from the “Grube Clara” in Oberwolfach, a mine that goes by the name of Clara and is still in use (one of the few mines in the world where the largest selection of minerals are found – over 350 different types). Old German silver coins from old mines in the Black Forest. Videos about mining in the “Grube Clara”, a scale model of the mine itself, computer programmes giving information on minerals, a slide show and information on the history of mining in the Black Forest. Assistance with the analysis of minerals is also offered (last Saturday in the month). A showcase with a large selection of minerals, which are on sale, literature and various pieces of mining equipment are also here to be seen.
