Motive: Historische Innenstadt Wolfach
Historic Town Centre Wolfach
The heart of the town centre with its high street, which was designed as a market square when the town was founded, still beats as it did years ago: Cobbled streets, water running through the town itself and the town well all go to create a certain atmosphere. Numerous restaurants, cafés and public houses with shady beer gardens invite you to stop for a refreshing drink and a bite to eat.
The most striking building in the town of Wolfach is the town hall and school which was built in 1893 and towers over everything else. The front of the building is made of sandstone and the frescos you can see are the work of Eduard Trautwein, a local artist. The interior of the building was completely altered in 1990/91 to house a modern administration. The former covered market on the ground floor is now where you will find the Tourist Information Office.
